2D Zero Pressure Gradient Flat Plate Validation Case
GLVY-RSM-2012 Model Results
Link to GLVY-RSM-2012 equations
Above GLVY-RSM-2012 results are from the code
aerodynamics.1.0.3
on the 545x385 grid, using GLVY-RSM-2012.
The computations were run both without tripping (apparent model transition) and with tripping
(tripping volume at 0 < x < 0.005m = 5mm and 0 < y < 0.00027 m = 0.27 mm with trip intensity of 0.4).
In both cases, inflow freestream turbulence intensity = 0.5% and inflow turbulent lengthscale = 0.005 m = 5 mm;
see Note 4 on
GLVY model description page.
The right-hand plot is extracted from the location where Retheta=10000.
Note that the results with or without tripping are practically identical (differences are only observed near the plate's LE).
Note that these are compressible code results
at "essentially incompressible" conditions of M=0.2.
There may be a very small influence of compressibility.
The CFD postprocessed data files are given here for reference:
glvy-cf_a3d.dat and
glvy-upyp_a3d.dat.
Note that this model is currently assigned
MRR Level 1 for the purposes of this website.
This is because at this time the TMBWG has results for this model
from only one code. The results on this page are therefore not necessarily
reliable until additional independent code(s) can be used to verify the model implementation.
